Brookdale Lodge - Haunted Places in USA
There's a lot of places all over the world that are supposedly haunted, right. But this place here. I think it's real. I hear the noise. I hear knocking on the windows. I hear people talking, you know, people walking. Heavy footsteps here quite a lot. When psychic, Sylvia Browne came through here, she had recognized almost 60 different spirits that were here and essentially trapped in this area. We get quite a few guests that know the history of it, and there's a couple of rooms that are famous for being haunted. They want to experience something. They want to experience the past. And some of them are, of course, just trying to see if it's real or not, you know. And I don't think we've had a guest that has stayed in one of those haunted rooms that was disappointed. I'm in Brookdale, California at the world-famous Brookdale Lodge. This hotel has hosted presidents, celebrities, and dozens of spirits that continue to haunt this location today. Let's hear their stories. The lodge goes back to the 1800s. There are very few people that don't have an idea of what the Brookdale Lodge is, very few. Because of the celebrity status here, you know, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, they've all stayed here in the past. President Hoover used to fish off that bridge there back, I believe, in the '20s. My number one goal is to cherish what's here from the past because this is what makes the Brook Room what it is in the past. Every time I speak with someone anywhere that I go to when we mention the Brookdale Lodge, they're like, oh, that's the lodge in the mountains in Santa Cruz County, and it's haunted. So given the history of this place, what made you want to buy it, get into this project? I think I was ready for a unique challenge. And when I say unique, this lodge is very unique. There are numerous spirits, I believe. And one of the famous spirits is Sarah Logan. She was the niece of Judge Harvey Logan, who acquired the property in the early 1900s. This actual building here, the Book Room is the only building in the world, and the dining room, for that matter, has a creek that runs through the center of it. She had fallen here in the Brook Room and hit her head and drowned. And so there have been multiple people who have seen her apparition? One of the best ones that I heard was a lady who did catering here in the '90s. She had brought her young son here in the Brook Room. And he was kind of running around, and he was young enough where he had thought that he had made a new friend. And when he went to go hug his new friend-- well, actually, when he let go of the hug, the little girl was gone. And so to this day-- he's like my age now-- will not come back here, because it was such a profound like, you know, experience for him. This room has generally more negative energies in here. We have so many guests that we know, they come on a tour in this particular area, and they would definitely feel uncomfortable, or they feel like there's heavy energy here. We call it the Mermaid Room. It's been called the Mermaid Room since its beginning. And so they actually had mermaid shows there. But then there was a girl at one point that had passed away in the pool also. And so it's believed that you know, that the top deck of the pool is very haunted. And you know, I, myself, personally, I've been in several haunted places. And to me, it's always kind of the same feeling. You get it here, and you definitely get it at the top of that pool deck. So I'm not sure exactly what, but something's going on there, too. I don't believe there's anything that's really threatening and harmful here. I've had people suggest that we do some sort of exorcism, and let's try to get rid of the spirits, you know, so you know, people aren't afraid to come here. And I'm like, wait a minute. The spirits have been here for 100 years. And outside of a few people getting spooked and hurting themselves by running or jumping, I don't think the spirits have done any harm here. You're happy to keep the spirits around. Absolutely. And I don't see any reason why we can't coexist. You know, it's a different dimension, the way I look at it. You know, they might be stuck in a dimension that they don't want to be stuck, and they're not comfortable being where they're at. But they're stuck. They have no choice. And I think we got to make the best of it, you know, and coexist.
